Advanced Metering Infrastructure

MECOMS™ offers a complete platform to collect metering data from manual meters, automatic meters and smart meters.

MECOMS™ Manual Meter Reading Module

The Monthly & Periodic Meter Reading Module (MPMRM) facilitates the entire meter reading process for a meter reading responsible. It is deeply integrated with other MECOMS™ modules, so it is possible to log and edit any necessary meter reading request from a variety of screens in the application.

The MPMRM module surveys all logged requests and bundles them. A wide set of different meter reading scenarios is supported by classifying the requests into groups that are easily managed. The meter reading scenarios support any form of meter reading entry.

Utility companies are often confronted with lacking meter readings. These block processes further down the meter-to-cash cycle, such as billing. Managing such discrepancies in the process can be very costly. That’s why MECOMS™ offers a range of tools to automate the interception of such discrepancies before you have to enter the manual modus of solving such problems.

MECOMS™ Manual Meter Reading PDA Application

This Windows Mobile application is installed on a PDA for Manual Meter Reading.

It can connect to the back-office using the cellular data network for real-time data transfer. For disconnected operations, it uses a local database.

The PDA offers an efficient interface for the meter reading staff and has validation and plausibility checks built in. The PDA communicates with back office system using wireless communication.

MECOMS™ Automatic Meter Reading Appliance

MECOMS™ Automatic Meter Reading Management (AMRM) manages the collection of interval, register and event information for a wide range of automated electricity, water and gas meters. It consists of a robust hardware platform with telemetry-specific software that handles data collection through modem, GSM, TCP/IP (GPRS, Ethernet), power line or Remote Call access.

Depending on the size of your AMR network and expandability needed, MECOMS™ AMRM is available on two different platforms: compact and modular. The compact version facilitates more limited data collection environments, while the modular version is capable of wide-scale, distributed automatic metering. Both platforms excel in remote data collection thanks to the task-based, parallel collection approach.

MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus

Valorising smart meter deployment is an important challenge, with many possible pitfalls.

MECOMS™ is a future proof solution for these new challenges, and their implications in the areas of Meter Data Management or Customer Care & Billing.

The Smart Metering Communication Bus (SMCB) has been designed within MECOMS™ to let utilities efficiently manage their Smart Metering assets and the complex communication with them. These new meter parks will often be multi-brand, multi-protocol and multi-user assets.

Although the processing of communication has to be done in coordination with other processes, the best is to keep them untangled. For example, adding a new protocol should not directly influence the billing cycle of a customer.

MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus tackles both aspects. It guarantees a comprehensive management of the metering assets, while at the same time offering the flexibility to link several different proprietary protocols to each other and the central system.

In addition, MECOMS™ Smart Metering Communication Bus supports push as well as pull AMI architectures.

MECOMS™ Utility Portal

The MECOMS™ Utility Portal is a set of web services that integrate in any website to allow for Self Service Meter Data Collection, Master Data Management, Electronic Profile Presentment, Electronic Bill Presentment and Service Request Handling.

The web services can be integrated in any web platform. The standard platform is Microsoft SharePoint or SharePoint Services.

MECOMS™ Meter Reading API

The MECOMS™ Meter Reading API enables importing metering data. It can read and parse any type of file such as XML, CSV or market meter data communication.
