The Italian energy market is rapidly changing. With liberalization increasing its pace the pressure on local utilities to innovate and digitize has never been this great. The current choice of platforms to achieve this transformation in the Italian market is limited and quite often based on outdated technology.

This is why we have made the decision to extend our MECOMS 365 platform to support the energy retail market in Italy. MECOMS 365 is based on the Microsoft business platform Dynamics 365. The solution is named MECOMS4ITA, and it brings a new breath of fresh air to the market. It is available for preview this year and the first deployment in the Italian market is scheduled for the first half of 2020.

The launch follows and leverages the recent strategic partnership with Utilia (that has a key role in the developing of MECOMS4ITA) is the Italian company specialized in the development of IT solutions and services for the Energy & Utilities sector. Utilia and Ferranti have planned a significative growth within the next 3 years in the Italian market.

The integrated approach to customer engagement, customer care & billing and meter data management is a strong proposition to offer a customer experience driven solution at an attractive cost to serve. Market interaction for gas and power will be facilitated using the MECOMS 365 MEEP engine. The MECOMS4ITA solution supports the ARERA regulations to enable a fit to purpose platform based on a modern Microsoft cloud driven application suite.

MECOMS 365 is the result of more than 40 years of experience in the utility industry. Ferranti has offices and a network of certified partners across the globe and, as a vertical solution provider, delivers MECOMS 365 platform to energy and utility companies. This platform gives access to the power and flexibility of Microsoft Dynamics 365, tailored to the specific needs of an energy and utility company.
